Download speed completely different on 2 Pc's in same house
can anyone explain why my PC download seems to be capped at 8.2MB/s but my partners PC can reach 50-60MB/s+ even though my NVME's are better than hers, so in my mind it cant be the read/ write speed plus i tried downloading onto both of my NVME's are the speed is the exact same. I've already tried everything people normally suggest for increasing steam download speed but nothing helps, Also my PC is ethernet and hers is wifi which is even more baffling

Make sure your link speed isn't capped at 100Mbps,

Open network and internet and click on propeties, it should tell you your link speed there.

Check cable for damage. try cat6 cable not a joke they are better at 1gb+ lines + local transfer among 1 pc to other.

ps.
list is long with other issiue
DL limit
ip managment
QOS
other things like Lan driver and router firware even.

onboard lan card then you also have BIOS and chipset driver issue,
even some board has been caught in port issue that cant deliver the max output.

and in top of this laptop user that still dont get it, balane mode is a reduce performance mode.
those are the most common isssue , and we dont even talk about share line issue. and other device on the network.

IP radio, they did sold over 2 millions of them som,e most have them that usage bandwide.

Check steam network trouble shooting guide.

That's fine then, that's gigabit, the link speed is your maximum potential bandwidth based on your equipment, if you had a bad cable or bad NIC, it would affect your link speed.

Have you run a speed test to see if your slow speed is system wide or just with Steam?
