Fraudulently gifted games to unknown accounts
I woke up to a few notifications on steam at that happened at 1am. I saw I had about 8 new friend request all in different languages who had received gifted games. But when I signed in on steam I had no friends at all, my language was set to Chinese, and I had gifted roughly $500 of games to various accounts. I didn’t authorize any of it, nothing on my steam guard came up, just everything happened when I slept. I have force signed out, changed my password, and checked the API stuff. With all that gone my bank account is deeply in the red, card is overdrafted and I have no money until steam reviews what I reported. And hopefully refunds the fraudulent gifts. My bank said I have to wait for the transactions to post, is there anything else I can do for assistance or is it just a waiting a game?

ALL steps in order:-

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Thanks I’ve knocked all those out from other forums, appreciate the fast response, anyone else go through something similar with any luck? Worried about getting my money back I wasn’t prepared for this to happen at all

If it was with wallet funds, no, you won't.

If it was your back card or other stored method. Contact your bank and steam support.

Nice I’ve been refunded for some already I’m pretty hopeful! It was all through my card and paypal

Make sure you contact steam support, if you do a chargeback you wont be able to use those methods of payments on steam again. So speak to support first.
