Whats going on with Steam???

The Steam app isnt letting me sign in because for some reason. While searching it up I was brought to steam overlay and it shows that only 170,000 are online. Did the steam servers die or something? Because I'd like to do things please.
Im getting "Error: There was an error commutinicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later"
Edit: I also can't reply for some reason

Unscheduled maintenance after the sales event ended.

Eh? Had steam for years and never seen this happen.

Happened many times before and after some major sales events. Mainly to fix some things that regular Tuesday maintenance broke.

It started to not work right a few hours ago when my rdr2 wouldn't launch and I thought it was my game corrupted,and didn't check the connectivity of steam at the time and I uninstalled the game and re-installed and checked my game download status and seen steam had no connection a hour ago and the forums had missing buttons and features
