Steam won't find games (on same hard drive as client)
I moved my Steam client to another hard drive since my old one been dying.
I run it as an admin and it found the games on the other hard drives.
But the games on the hard drive, where i moved the client now, steam won't find.

Moved the game files from the old common folder on to the hard drive to the newly by steam created one.

But when i hit install on the already installed games, it just starts to verify and then re-download the whole game. It just makes a new game folder next to the old one or even inside.. WHY??

Can somebofy help me, dont want to re-download multiple hundred GB's.

Also copy the appmanifest files from the old 'steamapps' folder to the new. Restart Steam if it was running, then see how things are.

You did it wrong with move manual common.

There is over 1000 post with this atleast. ( steam has files above common folder and you did not move them. )

ps.
ppl also use transfer games today within steam storage management.

Never wanted to transfer games.. only change location of the steam client, games were alredy on that drive just in a different library folder so it didn't recognize them.
But with the other files i did not see.
♥♥♥♥ happens.

All is in the steam storage management , change steam defauly location or move a game from one drev to other , then you have added a steam libray.

It's same if you move folder and files or in steam storagemangement, and that why steam made it that way so new steam user do not manual move thing and forget files have path pointers in files.

Only way you get away is a total move all steam to other drev and then you start steam up it will do check up and correct current new place.

Reason is you reply do not make sense, manual move as you did has consequence, and next user might not get it then you said never want to move files.

forget it ppl can read themself, you got it fixed, whatever you did or not.
