config.vdf dumps my drive
I downloaded Forza Horizon 4 on 2025/06/28 and it said, "Corrupt disk". I tried to reinstall many times, but it didn't complete. I tried different method to check, and I found "config.vdf" of the steam (from Event Viewer of Windows 11). For each time I restarted windows, I checked on it, it still there, but the next time (not the next time restart windows) I reopened the folder include it, it disappeared. Now the config.vdf does like a restore point, even I fully format with many methods. Every file and folder comeback, now I can't delete or install things in my drive.

Could be relevant to you , but how that is i cant see it then you have a win11 and disk write issue.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/3238670/discussions/0/594022859095939680/?ctp=2#c594023708174098589

Feel free to check for firmware upgrade at Brand drev support.

You can also try check disk from OS

And you also have steam repair steam libray in steam storage mangement and make sure default steam is at SSD drev, and not a spin disk.

Do not forget we are not support here, and make sure antivirus app is not have live scan and interference with writes , yesy somew av apps can do this.

Aas fare we know here, most geta pass in check disk, and then we have seen some steam user replace drev and wola problem gone. ( to proof here therer are bad drev that geta clean pass dong test, and thats why you ask Brand drev support, because we have not seen them bad drev in over 2 dcads ago, pc usre here only have them experience from the past, we have not seen bad drev in a long time.

ps.
Do no have a bad calbe to the drev, ( i could also say make sure your BIOS and chipset driver is update. becauseyou have a controll on the board to the drev. so every things to the drev could matter

feel frre to contact steam support to drill hole in there i have a compression of file issue if all other test is working fine, and FFS as i say make sure you have plenty of free space and drev is in NTFS type, this many steam already know,

Either steam has a chacksum unpacking issue see that will make sense but we cant proff it here with them look at it.

gl with your ticket.
and now you get it why update pc and drev and talk with brand drev support matter.
you can find sevral steam user in last year that has seena incresed wriet issue and we could not see the with what, until that post about compressing un-compressing files issue, if this is the issue.

Same goes with last 200gb to OS for temporary workspace and some games is SSD only
all this is seen as user own mistake , this will egt worse with nextr gen game like BGIII thats use 150 gb require storage space, so watchout of for big games.
