Where do Steam Cloud saves go?
This morning, I unfortunately somehow corrupted my Yakuza 4 save. I went to recover the save through the cloud but now I have no idea where to add it. The cloud gave me ".sys" and ".sav" files but nothing in the game's files have files that use the same extention at all. I attempted reinstalling the game but it still didn't have my corrupted save file. Does anyone know how to fix this? or at least recover the corrupted file?

Game saves are rarely saved under the game's own folder (located under steam/steamapps/common) and are instead under the appdata folder (Windows + R, paste in %appdata%, search by either game or company name).

It's mainly used to prevent shared devices from accessing the same saves.

It opens the Roaming folder. The only thing related to the game is the company's name folder and that only has 2 .ini files. Anywhere else I should be looking for?

Could also use the Userdata folder: steam/userdata/*your steam ID*/*App ID*/remote

App ID can be found here: steamdb.info

Each game can put save games anywhere the developer decides. Searching "Yakuza 4 save file location" will yield results, as will nearly any "-insert game here- save file location" search will.

You're not the first person in history who wanted to do something with their Yakuza 4 save...

ok I found it! However replacing the save files is making the game crash on start up 😭

What happens when you load the corrupted save? Because is this a case where the corrupted save got synced to the Steam Cloud?

Well, I had 2 saves. One is intact and the other is just not showing up at all, which means it must have gotten corrupted. When I checked the Steam Cloud, it only showed up the saves before today so I assume the cloud still has the older saves, not the corrupted. Though I am not sure.
Do you use mods for games? These alot of times can corrupt saves on clouds too. Had it happen to the sims 4 for me because i used mods on it.
