Hammer Editor Question
This post probably doesn’t belong here, but I can’t seem to post where it does belong.

That being said…

I just got back into L4D level design, after a long hiatus. So I am trying to relearn the Hammer editor for L4D.

Once you start adding things to a map, the map gets bigger and bigger. I know there is a way to do this, but I can’t find/figure out how.

I am trying to zoom in on certain sections of the map, and just work with that section as opposed to working with the whole map being displayed. Trouble is, I can’t remember how to do it. I’ve looked on line and even checked the keyboard shortcuts for Hammer. The keyboard shortcuts do not work for what I am trying to do.

There is a ‘Hide Unselected Objects’ button in the toolbar, which does work, but how do you unhide the hidden objects to work with the whole map again? Like I stated above, the keyboard shortcuts do not work with the L4D Hammer editor. At least not the reference I looked at.

I thought I created a selection box, selected everything inside the box, and just worked with that section. Then you can bring back the whole map and the section you worked on has been updated.

Or, if memory serves, you could even compile that section you just worked with to check it out, and not compile the whole map.

An example is you make a map of a big city. But you need to add buildings to a small section. Trouble is, with all the other things in the map, it gets hard to zoom in on just the section you want to work with, with all the other things in the way.

Can anyone help me with this?
