Steam will not open
I have a new setup running windows 11. When I open steam it stays in the task bar and will not open. I have restarted the pc, uninstalled and reinstalled steam. I have ended all steam tasks to assure nothing is running in the background. I have run steam as an administrator but the same thing happens, I see it in the task bar but cannot open it.
Nothing extra is connected, anti virus is off, it’s a brand new pc and has no viruses.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try this and see if you can force it to open:

Press Windows + R, type steam://open/main, and hit Enter to force the Steam app to open.
Thanks but it didn’t work. The screen goes black for a second like it’s going to work but then it just goes to the task bar.

Are all your drivers up-to-date? Windows, graphics, etc.

The screen going black makes me think it might be a graphics issue, possibly a conflict with the on-board one rather than it using your dedicated card. Have a look at your display settings, any time that a screen goes black for me, that's the first place I look.
Do you try to copy your steam saves from a older pc? I heard this can cause issues on windows 11. Don't do it. Also can you post your PC Specs on here? You will get more help if you post your pc specs on here.

Oh hi Ren again..nice to see you again.

I got it! Thanks for your suggestions. It was something completely different; the pc is a Technoid with a touchscreen. It’s supposed to have a fish on it but instead was running whatever programs I was trying to open on the monitor. Thanks for trying to help.
