How do I recover stolen items from my account?
Hello everyone, Today i had lost most of my tf2 inv and from what i have seen that even though i was very secure and very safe and did make sure everything was secure that i have no idea how they got in. during the time it had happened that i was away from my phone which is the only way that they could have gotten in. apparently they got in two days prior (june 30th to now july 2nd) i only just discovered such when i went onto tf2 and saw most of my items were gone. luckily i was able to reset my stuff and report to steam support about such because I knew i was safe and even when i would buy items from certain tf2 websites that are very well known that are secure (i only logged into three only) and each are very secure and I do not trade with strangers at all. So i have no idea how they got in and was able to trade even though i did not press any buttons for accepted log in and also for the trade. it just does not make sense. if anyone has any ideas on this. please let me know.

You don't.

Read the Steam Item Restoration Policy.

Secure your account. All steps...

Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/ or with whatever.

Deauthorize all devices https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage

Change your password on a secure device.

Generate new back up codes. https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage

Revoke the api key (this should be empty) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/dev/apikey

Stop giving away your account info to 3rd party sites.

Follow the steps Hotsauce gave you.

As for your items:
Steam Support will not restore stolen items nor stolen wallet funds.
In accordance with Section 1 C of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, you are fully responsible for all actions on your account, no matter who used the account. This includes actions that occurred as the consequence of fraudulent account access by phishing or malware, be it input relay, session token theft or any other method that granted a third party access to your account.
Since you're not sure how, you might want to reconsider some of the things you dismissed.

A successful scam... like a well known trading site that just skims a little off the top can go for a pretty long time. After all, at any given time 99% of the users never had a problem and the site is too well known to be a scam.

And maybe most people promoting the site aren't qualified to vouch for its safety.

I have no api key from what i have checked. Also that i have decided to not use the sites again (even though i did not use them much really.) thank you for the info which helps a lot. I wanted to at least try and see if i can recover something at least and so that is why i made this post to see if there is even a small chance.

There is zero chance. As per section 1 C of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, you are fully responsible for all actions of your account, no matter who used the account.
