Friend trying to watch me play... Running into issues.
I have my broadcaster settings set at a friend has to ask me if he can join, so my friend tried that and he said that my status showed that I was offline and I wasn't. I was actively playing a game at that moment so I'm not sure what's going on.
I'm on my pc and he's trying to watch from a steam deck. He said there are no broadcasting subsections (as in enabled it not) on that.

Afaik yes. My friend said it showed me as ONLINE in the profile box. But ALSO said "broadcaster is offline" . 🤔 So it's not a connection issue. I double checked my broadcaster settings and as I mentioned, it was set to friends can request to join you.
I saw his request to join, I accepted, abd he said it still showed "broadcaster offline"

So online? Not in a game? That would explain why your friend can't watch, you need to be shown in-game! Do you have privacy turned on so no-one can see you in game?

I was! I had the game paused, as was getting my ass handed to me at that moment, can't do 2 things at once, went to the steam overlay to talk to my friend. I was actively in game. Plus my friend said it showed that I was in a game.

Could it be somethig w his steam deck?

Found out the issue. Apparently my last thought was actually very correct. My friend tried it on his laptop and it worked so apparently it's a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bug with the steam deck, so anyone trying to do it that way your ♥♥♥♥ out of luck.
You are trying to get your friend to watch you play, with yourself?

See where this is going?
Wth are you talking about? Just a friend to watch me play a GAME. Period. I solved the issue anyway. Steamdeck cannot do it.
I know how to fix this issue. If your broadcasting the game.

#1. Start the broadcast.

#2. You must join your own broadcast.

#3. Ask your friend to join your broadcast after you fully are joined it.

This is how i fixed it. Are you seeing a blinking issue with broadcasting? This is how me and my friends fix it.

NOTE: This is a very slow method, so it may take up to 5 minutes.

That's so interesting you mentioned this! I tried again today (that's' when we sorted the issue) and yes I joined it too. It opened a browser window w/my game screen (my broadcast). Which I thought was odd...why have the option to join my own cast? But whatever.
So I guess I had. I then asked him to join. But still, no luck--UNTIL he switched to the laptop, and off steamdeck. He told me he briefly looked into his issue and said many if not all had the same issue. They suggested switch to desktop mode on steamdeck, as that worked for some. He tried that, still no dice.
The only thing that made it happen/work was if he joined from his laptop.

Hmmm...no. no blinking. The steam overlay is buggy though. W/drawing I think.

And thanks for the sugg

Sounds like it does not work with steam deck for certain games.
That may be, sure. Maybe that's why the option is there in the deck even though it doesn't work (for some) otherwise kinda silly to be there at all. Or grey it out.

Thanks for the replies.
