Steam asking for a cd key or proof of ownership.
I smashed my phone (unrecoverable state) that had my authenticator on and my backup code would not work so I contacted support but they stated “we must verify your ownership of the original CD Key that was used to create this Steam account.” I have not used a cd key in probably a decade or more especially if it’s one for when I made my account. Which was in 2003. Is there anything I can do to find my cd key or am I just going to lose my account forever.

You can put your sim in a new phone and use your phone number to recover your account without Steam support.

The issue with that is that everything was smashed. The phone was unrecoverable and nothing was salvageable

your cell provider can move your old phone number to a new sim. then use sms to recover your account

This is why you ALWAYS HAVE TO WRITE DOWN THE R-CODE

I have my backup code that I was given but it doesn’t work. It’s says something like try again even though I have it written down and a screenshot of it that I took
