Need help better understanding screenshots and videos
I will soon be replacing my old and slowing down laptop with a new one. In this process I am moving around, deleting, and remembering to better archive and store various files. In light of this, I have been wondering about certain aspects of Steam screenshots and captures.
The first concern I have is transferring. I know that Steam usually by default has cloud storage synced up for all of the games you install and play on your account, but I am concerned about how that works with screenshots. I say this because I have my screenshots on my computer in a directory, making me think they are maybe only stored on the computer unless you then decide to upload copies. This further makes me wonder how the metadata on those files work. Admittedly, that part is more so an intellectual curiosity and part of my generally wanting to learn more about efficiently manage, organizing, and programming around file storage and archiving.
My next big concern in this area is labeling and browsing. the folders in the directory where I find the screenshots saves everything with names that are a series of numbers (hardly the end of the world). Unfortunately, these files are stored in folders for each respective game, with each folder also just being a series of numbers, rather than the textual names of the games. As an aside, I suspect that the numbers for the games/folders are the number order of which game going onto Steam it is. I am hoping someone knows a way I can efficiently re-label/organize the separation of screenshots between games.
