how to i get access to test games like how people get access to deadlock

Deadlock invites can be given to you from Steam friends that invite you.

You can check the Deadlock forum for more.

As for other playtests, most of them are request to be chosen at random.

Devs often drop a beta tester in that game's discussion hub for players of that game.

how did they get deadlock in the first place

99% got it the way I mentioned first.

The other 1% was randomly picked by Valve before everyone and their mother's knew about Valve's new game.
