Client crashes when I click on a specific game in library.
The specific game is Elden Ring: Nightreign. I can click on any other game and start it up just fine, even Elden Ring, but for whatever reason, Nightreign will crash the Steam client. I can't launch the game from desktop shortcuts or by right-clicking the library, as that causes the client to go to Nightreign's library page. I have tried clearing the Steam web cache and restarting my computer, and nothing has helped. Is this a common issue? If so, is it specific to this game or has it happened to other games in the past? And of course, how would I fix this?

Dont have a past OS.

Rest is validate game intergrity of Files.

we have seen ppl delete games and content to wipe mod usage and other worst ideads but validate files should actualk cover standard game devs files. ( its same as reistall. ) unless you have configuration files in windows user data issue they are in local user name for the most. )

Stop use windows desktop icons, you only do that with script extender or other modifyed games.

PS
YES this is not a joke, ppl with 100+ games cant have all them icons at windows desktop or quick start or even make a folder at desktop and move all crappy games shortcut in them, is a waste of time. ( even i did that , funny side of this i have not start a game from there anyway )

You better learn to accept this faster , its not going to be easy with 500 or 1000+ games,

So we are actual not rude here, stop use windows shortcut unless you have a modded game that require it.

ps.
And yes to be rude, shortcut and its ICONs died a long time ago, just wait to you see games with bigger icon they are not there with old games, even more older games missing icons.

Learn to use Steam Collections, this is not a joke. ( solve alot of sorting issue, if you keep it simple. )

Just wait to you get Blank icons becauae of what you did, then you are done with old windows shortcuts for good.

ps.
You can find many past post with fixes, in the end its dead and gone you can't fix large icon there was never made for games in the past.

And try be happy someone bother with a reply in things down the road, will give you issue and save you alot of time in past windows user knowhow that is outdated, just so you get it from DOS through windows, then system issue to crash of hard disk and diffrent pc,
game shortcut is a waste of time, becuase we did what we was use to.

Click HOME and use Collection next to HOME to sort own categories.

I tested it on a friend's PC and I was able to select the game just fine, so I decided to reinstall steam and it worked.

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU DO THIS to delete all files in your steam directory EXCEPT steamapps, steam.exe, and any others you might want to keep, then open up steam.exe and it'll repair your stuff. You can also backup your steamapps folder and then reinstall steam, but I just deleted all files in my steam folder besides steamapps and steam.exe and launched/logged in to steam.exe, and it worked perfectly. If you just uninstall Steam from "add or remove programs", it'll remove all the games from your disk.
