STEAM - Download Bug? (download cache)
I have installed Steam on C: - a few games on C: aswell - the rest is in librarys on other Drives.

Everythink worked fine since forever but now steam starts probably ruining my SSDs for no reason?

What is happening:
- steam for some reason now downloads all files to C: even tough C: is never the install drive
- steam also doesnt even clear the cache after its finished so my C: drive constantly is filled almost 100% - when i delete the files the next updates will just fill it up again
- this means its wasting my CPU and SSD for no reason
- there is enough space free on the SSDs with the libraries

Does anyone else have this issue recently? Is there any solution?

The only thing i can think of right now would be a symbolic link for the Download folder on c: - but this has to be a bug - its nonsensical to download to the non install drive just to copy it to the install drive and not even clear the cache afterwards - this also explains why some installs were so slow all of a sudden.

thx
This>> - the rest is in librarys on other Drives.<< when other drives re dicxonnected downloads defaults to to where Steam is installed and will have to be restored each time.

C is normally the system windows drive and programs should be installed to programm files x86
just saying.

Seem like not a lot of people have that bug? Because its obvious pretty fast when you get install-failed messages because of disk space and windows warnings because of low disk space.

Btw. using symbolic links completely fixed the issue - but i shouldnt have to do that to not waste my primary SSD.

I dont really get the idea in general - downloading to A to install on B seems highly inefficient.

But hey i in general dont even understand why everything isnt portable with some minor required installs these days.

Its not end of life cycle system - its windows 10 and its the most used OS. I am also pretty sure that this has nothing to do with the OS.

Is there enough space on your target drive? You need at least twice the game's installation size on your target drive.
