Steam Client suddenly bogs entire system down
Everything was running fine up thru Tues night. Wed, when I booted up my system, as soon as I started the Steam client everything bogged down. System lag was very bad with a 5 second minimum, often longer, delay before any action chosen would start. My internet connection went from 2gigs to 4 to 5 megs often showing no connection at all for the entire system not just steam. When I used task master to force steam to end task everything started working properly again. No system lag and internet speeds up to 2gigs again.
Nothing that I am aware of was updated on my system Tues night and I made no changes myself. Problems started after system start up on Wed. I have restarted the system and reinstalled steam several times. Problem remains unchanged.

I'm at my wits end and all steam support can or will tell me is to reinstall the client.

Try launching Steam with -no-cef-sandbox in the shortcut's launch options to bypass potential UI-related slowdowns. Also disable Steam’s hardware acceleration: go to Steam > Settings > Interface and uncheck "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views," then restart the client. If the issue persists, check if any network-related services like Killer Control Center, MSI LAN Manager, or third-party firewalls are interfering, and temporarily disable them to test system performance.
