Why do you want to hide it?
Got an embarrassing amount of money there after refund, and having friends over in a few days

Why is it embarrassing? And why care what the friends are going to think about it?

Do like people did with the number on VCR's or check engine light in car. Put duct tape over it.

No, that is not the real reason and we all know it. You don't want your friends to ask for money to buy games. Because face it, you never get money returned that people borrow from you. Like this one time 20 years ago, one of my friends borrowed a jacket. Never got it back.

You could use Small Mode, though this is easily circumvented and perhaps could motivate your friends to find out what you are hiding.
before they come over buy more games and refund when they leave....

This should have been a feature in Steam since 10 years ago. People are sharing their desktops screenshots with Steam in it online without even realizing they are showing their wallets. On the bright side, Steam doesn't show the real account name like it used to.

If you want this feature implemented, I recommend posting a in the Suggestions / Ideas Forum.
