I am having frame drops/stutters in almost all my 3D games
My specs:

RTX4070 Ti Super

i7-14700KF

32 GB Memory

Nvme SSD

Windows 11

2K @ 165hz monitor

I have been struggling with frame drops/stutters for a long time. Now the problem is, I feel like almost all my 3D games are having unstable frame issues.

Before I used Smooth Motion, the problem was already existed, so I won't put the reason on Smooth Motion. Oppositely, I would count on it and wait for its driver updates to make it better and better.

Simply saying, I tried to globally cap the frame at 162, 158, 155, etc, or downgraded my monitor to 144hz or 120hz, but the frame drops were still happening. I tried tons of combinations in my Nvidia App, including disabling G-sync Compatible and only left monitor's Freesync on, adjusting the Power Manage Plan, etc, all not working perfectly.

Speak of using the new Smooth Motion, I tried to uncapped my frame, and found that some good graphic games could run to 300 to 400 fps. There was a FPS game, with I set it to all highest graphics, and after I entered the match, the frames were constantly about 340, but sometimes when I opened the gun sight, it would noticeably drop to about 250 fps, and could not be lower.

The problem was, if I globally cap the frame at 162, everything could still drop to about 158 or something, and the stutters were totally noticeable. However, if I uncap everything, the lowest frame would be about 250, which was way higher than 158. (I mean, if like this, why 162 could still drop to 158?)

I still think it's something wrong with my settings, or, maybe some hardware issues. I just want to solve the problem, and hope people here may help me. Thank you!

Is that with a clean installment of the drivers in custom mode then you get asked. ( and play rdy drivers.

ps.
Feel free to check BIOS update and other chipset drives and what ever other drover you8 need from support page. ) in othr words dorn get caught in things not update, if you have to write to Nvidia support for help.

we assume game ownb setup point at right GPU card then they have aown configuration file and syste, ofc has that primay GPU card selected, i dount you run game in sofware rendring aka CPU doing the job.

i and othre only mention this then its seen before in rare case where driver or user change it.

ps.
Do use MS VC++ for latest thirdpart app, ( its still a runtime driver and can effect games performance, and yes even hard to notice today with GPU card are so strong noone notice some mhz appovement today very old gpu card we could feel it today not so much.

And its still relevant you test turm off GPU accelration in steam web view.

and if this is a gaming PC , feel free to change windows to best performance.

and enable windows Focus app

and power scematic if you feel balance mode dont give the last output as Full performance do.

and get out of steam BETA client, we see alot of steam user keep use that

Thank you! I will look into what you wrote.
Some ganes need the direct 11 some the newer directX version.
Open run type dxdiag press enter click on Display check all 3D components are on

Use the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (For Older Systems or Specific Components)
This installer from Microsoft includes older DirectX components and is sometimes needed for specific applications.
Find the Installer: Open your web browser and navigate to the official Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer Page.
Download: Click the Download button to get the web installer.
Run the Installer: Locate the downloaded file and run it to start the DirectX Installer.
Complete Installation: Follow the on-screen instructions to install or repair DirectX.

Note: For Windows 10 and 11, DirectX 12 is the latest version and is part of the operating system's updates, so there is no separate download available.
