Steam notes not saving

I've been using the notes feature quite a bit recently whilst playing Valheim, but all of a sudden they've stopped saving. I noticed a portion was missing from the last time I used the notes tab, and so I tried adding some more to see if it would happen again, and it did.

Does anyone know why this is? I just tried the "new note" button in the bottom left and those notes seem to be saving. Can anyone confirm if there's just a max amount you can type per "note"? thanks

Edit: Just thought I'd put this up here for anyone looking for a decent workaround:

The only way I've been able to make it "save" every time, is to open the notes feature, type whatever you need into it, ctrl c what you've just typed, close the notes feature, and then go to the part that probably didn't save and paste it back - oh and also close the notes bit after you've pasted the text that didn't save. Every time I've tried this, and re-opened the notes bit, what I pasted is all in there.

I know it's more just brute force than a solution, but if you're using the notes feature to have quick access to what you've previously written, then this at least lets you do that, it just adds an extra step to writing part

It's when I'm in game, or from steam when I go to write a note, they don't save. I'll write something down, close the game, and when I come back and check the notes, the new bit I added will be gone

Maybe you're right on the connection, I have no idea. I checked the cloud storage and I still have loads left, it's only text so I don't imagine I'll ever run out of space. Is what it is, hopefully it starts working again, thank you for the replies :)

I'm having the same issue. I'll make a lot of notes in a game, switch to a different Note tab, switch back, and either everything I just entered is completely gone, or it only saved the first little bit that I put in.

It seems to me that Steam isn't saving recent entries fast enough, and when I switch notepad tabs, Steam re-syncs the Notes with the last version in the cloud, not the version that I just had open.

It's such a shame tbh, I was really liking the notes feature. If you ever figure out a solution please let me know, I'd appreciate it

The only 'Fix' I can recommend for the time being, is to not have multiple notes for one game. Just cram everything into one Note file. Higher chance that Steam will save it to the cloud.

Really trying to make use of this feature for factory planning in Satisfactory. It's getting really frustrating when all my math for my logistics is gone in a second with no explanation.

I second this, it is extremely infuriating to write two pages of mathematics only for steam to delete it instantly.

Having the same problem, I use it in Valheim too! Still don't know how to fix it, but here's what I tried. Last night I made a lot of changes to one specific note, changed tabs between different notes a few times, checked back and the changes were all still there. Closed and reopened the overlay a few times to double check, and everything was looking good. I log in today and half of the changes are missing :(

:( Just ran into this - lots of information that I really wanted to keep is gone; A notes feature that loses chunks of your notes is not a useful notes feature any more..

(But perhaps does seem related to having multiple notes? I usually only use one and haven't noticed a problem before .. unless this is a new issue since then.)

I also have this problem, it seems to only happen when there is more than one note? I need to ctrl+a ctrl+c, toggle tabs, ctrl+v if it was erased and check again. Not ideal, specially considering risk of messing the process and loosing huge notes.

Have just discovered that I've lost a couple of hours worth of working notes from Satisfactory that I made last night.

Urgh I was hoping for a fix.

Really fricking disappointing.
