When Steam is down, cloud does not work.

I could not find the comment section. It is bury somewhere on this stupid menu system.

Do me a favor folks, when steam is down and will be back in 15 minutes. Please put up a message and let everyone know.

In addition, Cloud is nice but there should be a local copy on the computers to sync up copies to the cloud. That way if steam goes down, we can still pay our games.

Look, we bought those games, we have the right to play it on or offline as we please.

How would you like to buy a car and when you are about to leave work at 5 pm and it does not start because the car is in the middle of an update or the server is down and you cannot start your car. That is what it feels like when we are force with steam DLC. Let me do that to your car.

If the game is already installed, internet is down, server is down, and/or cloud is down, we the players can still pay our games with out being checked on.

Unless you want me to turn your car off at 5 pm for an update.

Steam goes down EVERY Tuesday at 5 pm PST. This is very well known as its been happening since the start. They can't say it will be back in 15 minutes because sometimes it takes longer than 15 minutes or its shorter than 15 minutes. It all depends on how it goes. If it takes longer than expected people will scream at them, heck if it takes a shorter amount of time people will scream at them for interrupting their games for such a short time.

And when they take it down to do maintenance it ALL goes down. Not parts here and there. And as far as I know there is a local copy of the save file. If not that is 100% up to the developer of the game and no Valve can't make them have a local save file and no Valve won't do it for them (they don't have the source code for every game).

Any other time they don't know its going down so can't send out a message.

If the game relies of some sort of always connected DRM to use, then if the internet is down there is nothing you can do. Don't like always on DRM? Then avoid buying games with DRM in them. There is a list you can find in google of steam games with no DRM.

As for not being able to access your car because of an update... guess what, its an actual thing already, specially with electric cars. At least according to some things I have read over the years. This is usually why they try to do updates while the car is charging if I remember right.

There is only one game in my library that actually requires cloud and that is The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition because it does not create a local save.

All other games do create a local save and i can play them offline.

That is fine.

Still WOW servers is able to do that. Put up a simple message that the WOW server is down and will be back at x time. Why can't steam do that. WOW....

WOW is an online game hence the message. Other mmo's also display the message.

Steam is an online platform that does not actually go down on maintenance Tuesday.
