New Borrow Feature in Steam Trading!
Allow users to put time limits on items they give in trades. Aka allow people the option to lend items temporarily or borrow items from others temporarily without having to rely on trust. An in-built Steam Trading Feature to bypass trust and reduce paranoia! Like for example when you're making a trade you can have the option to put a custom time limit on the item, like if you wanna let your friend borrow an item without having to worry about whether they'll give it back or not. When you receive an item from a trade that has a time limit on it, that item will be unmarketable/untradeable/undelete-able/etc. Once the time limit is over, the item is returned back to the owner. You may use the item in game until the end of the time limit's duration. Of course there will be some items that would understandably be exempt from this 'time limit' option, and there would be disclaimers and stuff too so that nobody accidentally makes any mistakes or any new users get tricked into trading away an item of theirs for an item on a time limit. Actually you could even make it so you can only put a time limit on an item if its a gift instead of a trade. Anyhow this is just a silly little suggestion and of course all the quirks could be ironed out and figured out by glorious Valve :) Hope you enjoyed my suggestion! :)

What's the intended use for this?
So you borrow a trading card from a friend and then you... just wait for it to expire because you can't do anything with it? Or are you talking about a specific game where this would be useful?
It's a pretty cool idea

Well maybe tf2, cs2, and all games that have valueable items

This is a pretty neat idea... Probably needs a bunch of fleshing out, but the concept is much needed.

actually good idea like imagine just borrowing a golden pan
But it'd have to be very obvious in said trade that the item had a time limit placed on it. I can totally see people getting scammed because the time limit symbol wasn't obvious enough. I feel like it would also deflate the market a whole lot.

Feel like this would easily be good for like testing out certain cosmetic options, especially for things such as the pyrovision goggles
I remember buying them on marketplace tf before I had any other pyrovision items and then regretting it because I didn't know pyrovision makes my eyes hurt (it was only 14 cents so not big of a loss, but still)
cool idea!

definitely because sometimes i find myself buying TF2 cosmetics for my pyro only to turn around and say "dang. this is lame. looked better in loadout.tf"

Hasn't been implemented since the topic was brought up 7 years ago, there is little chance it will be implemented now.

This can be abused for commercial purposes. You're not supposed to rent away your items.
