Without it people would be posting links that are close to a Steam URL, routing people to 3rd party scam sites and then the people would blame Steam. The warning does stop some of those attempts. As for the rest, nothing could save them since the person behind the keyboard is too gullible to be using the internet in the first place.
Do you get off on contradicting people for no reason...?
I ask sincerely because to describe a 2 window popup that does not close as "perfect".... i dont even know. Are you trolling or do you sincerely believe what you just said?
Popups could close
Steam main window would not need to open
The query could be integrated into the chat window itself
Not to mention an option could exist to enable/disable this feature
No. According to you, having 17 popups in the background is "perfect",
Okay Timmy. Perfect it is.
The mainline branch has yet to have these fixes that the beta has...

So you start with aggression because you didn't get confirmation. Classy.
You don't allow users to turn off security measures because the ones that most need them would turn them off after some scammer told them to. The average user needs every protection there is and some of them still manage to get their accounts compromised.
You don't get the described behaviour when opening links from the forums in the client. As for the rest, Hotsauce already covered the chat functionality.
There where so many people posting scam links on Steam forums that there had to be a warning when leaving Steam.
You quoted the reasons ....
Second: If you are not savvy then a "press a button to continue to the link you already pressed" function does literally nothing for you.
All it does is that you have now press 2 buttons (+2-3 more to close all that sh*t) to fail the exact same way you'd have failed when you pressed it once.
Third: None of this even matters because its a strawman. I never argued to remove this feature, i said to:
- integrate it into the chat window so it can be done in 1 click
- disable/auto close popups so we dont have to press 3-6 buttons switching around and closing tabs tabs just to accept the query
- make the feature optional for those who actually ARE "tech savvy"
No. You can disagree with me all you want. What pisses me off is when people disagree with me and the reason for it is literally "nothing", "brain ghosts", "feelings", "nonsense".
You are correct. I react very poorly to dissent based on jack s-it.
First: The option to disable the function was one out of four of my suggestions, however:
Second: Why dont you relinquish all your human rights and decision making powers following that same logic? You know, people tend to make mistakes, might sign legal documents without fully understanding them and in fact just vote wrong, so why not put them in a glass box and make AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL the decisions for them?
The answer is no.
You do not get to cripple the entire society just because you found a handful of people who cant differentiate between their hands and feet, so your brightest idea is to force everyone else to use them interchangeably.
The bare minimum is to make these functions streamlined so that query is 1 click instead of 10 in order to close all that pop up sh-t, but making it an option is also perfectly valid and reasonable.
Ironic you say this because the purpose of that is to prevent the frequent topics we see regarding hijacked accounts. It takes 1 click and you are past it, if that is too much to do then it begs to question how you manage to click in games multiple times.
Cause you are derailing the topic with nonsense.
My delivery has nothing to do with the argument. If you cant separate the way i type from what im typing then say that. I promise i will give you a PG rundown of the issue, but as far as your comment goes: No. Pretty sure my patience has nothing to do with the fact that i have to play hide and seek with steam windows every time i click a link.
