Steam.. dont allow forced linking of accounts.. dont allow the use of 3rd party launchers
as the headline says.

make some new rules for those devs using your store front.

Dont allow them to force to link ones steam account to their stuff to be able to play a Bought game..
and as minimum if you let them do this.. they should as a minimum write it clearly in the right side of the game info where you can see its single/multI/coop and what not that it requires forced account linking or 3rd party launcher..

Secondly.
Dont let them sell a game here that then requires you to install their bad launcher to be able to play their game..

we know its possible with POE.. they have a standalone launcher free from steam and they have a launcher for steam..

3rd party launchers and account linking are to validate you have the licence to the game on Steam. The alternative is to get the game directly on their own platform.

Steam is actually the 3rd party launcher for those games.

A 1st party launcher is getting the game directly on their own client.

The launcher the game is sold in should be considered its 1st party launcher
EA wouldn't have partnered with Valve to come back to Steam after nearly a decade of being gone if their 3rd party account linking wasn't allowed.

Valve would literally lose some of the largest games to either Epic or MS.

I don't think Valve would make a policy banning developers from offering automatic login. That sounds like a bad idea.

Except that it's not, no matter how much you wish it otherwise. The manufacturer of the product is, and always will be the first party. The store that the product is sold in is the third party. No different than simply substituting publisher/developer for manufacturer, bub.

There's no need for him to read that topic as no official answer was given there.

That would only be true for Valve Released games, as any other games would be a 3rd party to steam / Valve
You should read the Steamworks documentation, OP. Valve ENCOURAGES the use of own DRM and such. These accounts and launchers are exactly that.

So, what you're suggesting goes directly against what Valve advises their partner devs/publishers.

The very first post is a spot on answer in that thread that addresses the issue perfectly. Whether the OPs want to acknowledge the fact that Steam is the 3rd party launcher in these cases doesn’t make the answer any less valid.
