You get extra friend slots by leveling up for a max of 2k friends.

You don't need money to get the Seasonal badge.

I've earned well over 500k points just from helping on the forums. I have plenty of points to get the seasonal badge for years.

At the end of the day, Steam has to set a limit. And whatever that limit is going to be, it won't be enough for someone.

Did you know when you send a friend request it eats up a friend slot you have for someone who doesn't say yes or no to you, I suggest you should cancel them so they get their friend slot back
