Item Lock (Security)
So IK people get hacked pretty often on Steam for their items, is there any chance we can get an item lock so that said item(s) cannot be deleted, changed, or moved unless confirmed through mobile auth?
I know there are sometimes that a person gets hacked badly enough that they get a fake mobile auth but at the same time IK there are many instances where they're only logged in to an extent.

As well we could have it where there are levels of locks:

Level 1 lock - Can't be changed unless confirmed in mobile auth.
Level 2 lock - Can't be changed unless confirmed in mobile auth and email.
Level 3 lock - Can't be changed until confirmed in mobile auth for a select amount of time.

Feel free to let me know any thoughts, if Valve somehow sees this and introduces it then it's up to them to decide exactly how to go about it but I would like this and I believe it'd help prevent quite a few scams.

Yeah but if you get hacked then at least it'd be harder for them to get the items.
people dont get hacked pretty often. what happens pretty often is people give out their account log in infomration. its easier to get your log in from you then it is to hack the steam servers.

vote for my (insert what ever here)
visit this site for free things (insert scam link here)
Hi, I am from support, you are about to be blah blah blah....
Sorry, I reported you by accident blah blah blah....

then you have the fools that like to use 3rd party sites for trading or buying/selling skins and hand over their log in freely because the site gives them a "special" deal for advertising

no amount of security will stop people from doing stupid things. some learn the first time something bad happens, some learn after a few times, and there are those rare few that never learn and should be removed from the gene pool.

when you make any kind of security optional, the people that need to be using wont use it. again, there are some people that should be removed from the gene pool...

if they get "hacked" the hijacker can unlock the items themselves

Not necessarily, if they have to confirm on mobile and email then it's much less likely.

check some "ive been hacked" thread on steam
IK there's some "Can't fix stupid" things that no amount of security will fix but there is some that could be improved.
Plus there's always a risk of accidentally deleting the wrong item.
*Going to delete worthless item that is right next to a super valuable one... oops..."

there is probably a reason why its never been added.

Optional security is never actual security. Anything that you can turn on while in control of your account is something someone else who hijacks your account can simply turn off.

Hijacking occurs due to the account user's lack of common sense, making your suggestion rather useless since the same user who allows their account to become compromised to begin with is likely to allow the other security measures to be compromised as well.

Valve: Here is 2fa, it generates on your phone app, this is to allow secure login
User who has provided their 2fa to a scammer: this trade site won't let me confirm my trades and now my items are gone, I didn't log into any scam sites just (insert Asterix) they're a well-known site, help this is my brother's account !

This goes beyond steam as well in regards to suggestion email which is vulnerable to hijack for the very same reasons. If people were to take better care of their accounts then these band-aids that are suggested would not be needed, band-aids get added and because of the weak point being the user requires more and more measures.
Even with something like scams, making item untradeable or changed unless confirmed is a great idea imo
It can prevent someone offering trade for something like spells or killstreak for the price of cheaper counterparts in the inventory relying on low attention of a seller
I know "check trades 10 times before confirming" but at least it will be a good quality of life change to prevent accidents
Not what you really suggested but Valve just did this...

No, they really don't.
There are only 2 real ways to get "hacked" on Steam.

1. Someone with your login name and password can somehow beat the 1 in 60,466,176 odds on guessing the right 2FA code that keeps changing.

2. Someone using email authentication gets both their Steam AND email login names and passwords leaked. Then the attacker can try to intercept and delete any emails involved with whatever activities they attempt on the Steam account, hoping that the user doesn't ever notice.

If you use the Steam app and/or properly secure your email account (with 2FA if available), they only way someone is getting in is if the user gives their Steam login credentials to that person.
