much like how we can customise the artwork for titles in our libraries, i think the ability to rename game titles clientside would be worthwhile. many titles nowadays include meaningless garbage tacked on for legal reasons or for the sake of promoting new releases and it detracts from the user experience

id like to propose that a file is added to the user directory of steam for local overrides of library metadata, ideally in the same or a similar folder to the custom grid art. this would allow the user to alter at minimum two fields (name, sorting name) for more intentional sorting of the library. keeping a differences file rather than overriding the existing appinfo.vdf file as most current third party tools do would make the process significantly easier and would also afford the user to synchronise these changes across devices using a third party file synch tool, a method already commonly used for library art. this method would also be preferrable because since the changes are clientside and no files need to be sent to steams servers no additional load will be placed on them.

the ability to make these changes in the ui using a similar method to how non-steam apps are loaded would be ideal, but i think the people who really care for this feature would be equally pleased by at the very least adding a plaintext file of local overrides in a consistent directory

if this is a feature you would like for steam, please bump this thread! this forum is very crowded and feature requests like this get buried very easily under unrealistic requests that dont belong here.
