I hate that system too. But Valve seem to prioritize engagement over order.

I don't know, I think it's rather funny how people seem to think that jestering posts in my post history because they don't like my opinion does something. Well, it does, it gives me some points to use in the points shop. So, that's neat.

That said, it's not the awards that ruin the discussions. It's people. It's always people. Don't blame the tools/features, blame the asshats who misuse it.

Yes the multitudes of spam threads asking for awards to be removed as a way to surreptitiously farm for awards is annoying, and usually gets reported to forum moderation.

People make more and more topics because they want it addressed. No one wants to go through clutter forums full of bait topics just to find a few one or two topics per page that are worth investing any time in. This is why a lot of people just go to other forums that are properly moderated to remove the trash or discords.

Who wants to go page after page of topics like this on practically every forum they frequent?
