It's time for Steam to include abbreviations in the profanity filter
Posting the abbreviation for phrases like 'what the ♥♥♥♥' and 'oh my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god' is against the rules for "bypassing the profanity filter". The only logical explanation behind this is because the first letter of the word is posted. Meanwhile, the profanity filter has no problem replacing the entire word with a heart emoji and that's perfectly ok to post. Therefore, it only makes logical sense to include the abbreviations in the profanity filter to stop the unnecessary removal of posts (including those who quoted another user) for bypassing this ridiculous filter rule.

I have never seen anyone get action taken on for using WTF, OMFG or anything related.

Press X to doubt.

Depends. Might be acted on for spamming or being non constructive.

I've seen it happen before. Funny how anecdotes work.

I can post the screenshot, but I'm assuming reposting a 'violation' is against the rules. I quoted another post that had 'FFS' in it. That user's post could have been considered non-constructive as Thermal Lance said, but my post was removed for bypassing the profanity filter.

I've gotten a warning for the abbreviation of point of sale.

I told someone to keep themselves safe and got a similar warning...

That is a good example of why they shouldn't be in the filter and why it was ignored by most moderation. A string of letters can mean anything, even something harmless.

What should define it is context and that isn't something a filter an identify.
In the preferences settings add \pL+ (yes, \ and not /) to never filter these words.

The abbreviations don't have hearts now.

If your posts don't make sense due to a filter then perhaps they aren't worth reading into much.

In your opinion perhaps, but just because you do not like them does not mean they are not worth reading. This is a discussion board, not an affirmation board, so you will simply have to accept that not every post need be agreeable to your specific tastes.

Reading comprehension is a useful skill. Try again... or don't since your post didn't contribute anything.

It's safe to ignore accounts with names that are just a string of numbers, as they are not paying customers and thus have little stake in the platform you are posting on to begin with.

Wrong.
It has nothing to do with being a free user or a paying customer.

When a nickname shows up as a string of numbers that is either due to an error with Steam's servers not bringing up the nickname correctly or the user has had their nickname moderated.

Limited accounts (i.e. accounts which haven't spent any money) don't parse names on the forums unless quoted or you hover your mouse over their profile. The Living Tribunal is a limited account. This is pretty common knowledge around here.

Um, no he is just set to private.
All private accounts show up as Level 0.
That does not make them free accounts.
