Moderation on this board is extremely lacking, I'd suggest improving it
The regulars on this board always talk about OT being toxic and a cesspool, but the reality is that this board has just as much toxicity and drama. Except instead of being about politics, it's people who aggressively argue against every suggestion ever because Steam is a perfect platform as it is.

"It's a suggestion board, not an affirmation board" would hold more water as an argument if the people who refuse to "affirm" suggestions only argue against them on the basis of personal drama from old threads.

Agreeing, moderation is way to lenient towards the usually suspects who continues to create bait topics. Ban's need to be longer or even permanent in some cases imo.

/Have a great day.

Stop doing the same thing over and over then.

Don't post in bad faith.

And if the moderation was stricter, I doubt it would work in your favor.

Then why do you complain about being moderated every now and then?

If moderation was stricter, your bad faith or off topic threads/posts would not last long.

As far as I can tell, the only suggestions that other users argue against are the bad suggestions, or the ideas that are actually already implemented, and the poster just wasn't aware of that.

At the end of the day, this board is still a discussion board. You post your ideas/suggestions, and people discuss them. Whether Valve looks at them or even cares is another matter all together, although the few suggestions made here that actually got implemented seem to suggest they might. That could have just been coincidence though.

As we both know moderation is capable of making mistakes.

I don’t think you should expect much from people who end up moderating forums for work, at least you won’t be disappointed that way.

As always, I agree we do need better moderation on the board. It's unfortunate that on a site the size of Steam, reactive outsourced moderation tends to be cost effective, but also ineffective in certain aspects. Lack of clear cut escalation of bans, and the rare use of perma bans also contributes to that.

It would be more effective to couple the Volunteer mods with the paid mod team, and enforce a limited number of chances for continuing repeat offenders ending with the permanent boot. Of course we also need to address the alt abuse issue as well, with further limits on what alt accounts can do, especially free accounts.
What happened to putting all your moderation suggestions in that one thread you made?

Got bored of that already?

So, a continuation of this?

From your perception, maybe.

Perspective*

Not really.

So anyway,

How is someone disagreeing with a suggestion an issue? Why does moderation need to be stricter? Are they breaking the rules by disagreeing?

How does moderation "need improving" in a way that isn't already outlined in the various other threads you've already made in the last month or two?
