Subject: Third Request – Please Consider Adding Iraq as a Steam Region

Hello Steam Support,

This is the third message I’ve sent regarding this issue, and I hope this time it receives proper attention.

My name is jaco, and I’m a long-time Steam user from Iraq. Please note that I’m not requesting a personal region change, but rather I’m sending a suggestion that would benefit many users in my country.

Currently, Iraq does not have its own regional pricing. Iraqi users are forced to pay global prices, which are extremely high compared to local income levels. For reference, the average monthly income in Iraq is much lower than in Turkey, yet Turkish users benefit from significantly more affordable prices due to Steam’s regional pricing system.

This pricing model is unfair to Iraqi players and excludes a large part of the community from accessing games legally and safely. Many people here simply can’t afford even basic titles.

I kindly ask that Steam:

Either adds Iraq as an official Steam region, with localized pricing,

Or merges Iraq temporarily with the Turkish pricing region, which is much more reasonable for our economy.

This would be a major step toward fairness and inclusivity for Iraqi gamers, and I hope Steam will consider this request seriously.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
jaco

+1. Heartwarming suggestion.
Turkey no longer has its own pricing region nor is the Lira supported, it was rolled into the MENA USD region, and as far as I know, Iraq is already under the MENA USD region. As a result, you should have lower USD prices compared to users in other regions - that is, if developers appropriately price their games. Unfortunately I don't see Valve choosing to add support specifically for an Iraq store region.

Iraq is part of the new MENA USD region where Valve suggests lowered USD prices for said region.

MENA-USD Region
Middle East
  • Bahrain
  • Egypt
  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Oman
  • Palestine
  • Turkey
  • Yemen

USD_MENA

We also recommend a discounted USD price for several Middle East and North Africa countries and territories where we don't have local pricing. This is presented as "USD_MENA" in the pricing tools. These countries are: Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Turkey, Yemen, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and Sudan.
