Turtle WoW
Hello mod enjoyers,

I suggest Steam Workshop adds GitHub-like functionality, allowing mods to persist if the original author leaves, provided they use this feature. Thanks, have a nice day!

Wouldnt this be the same if they just uploaded it to steam workshop? Mods dont get deleted unless they violate steam rules or author asks to take down

Well I think the idea is since a lot of code repos on github are public and anyone can branch off it. Then the mod could "persist" and be updated more easily.

Although I would say if a mod author wants to do that they can already just put their code on github and link back to it.

Plus "just add github(-like) functionality" is easy to say, harder to do. A lot of work to replicate something a lot of people already use, for some minority of abandoned mods. It may not be a problem that needs solving.

Okay so is this about Turtle WoW or mod pages?

Continuations of mods is already a thing.

Here's nearly a thousand continued mods, a few of which I originally created:

well, workshop can already do that, people can make many mods, despite an author not continuing.

also, many many... mod sites exist, why would we need github for that, not to mention the site isnt really known for game mods, like others are?

have a nice day
