Get p*rn off Steam
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed that Steam sells a lot of content that's very explicit to the point of being downright degenerate. There's hentai games in the store, among other games that seem to be for nothing more than getting a rise out of it. While it might not be strictly classified as hardcore p*rn, it's certainly p*ornographic.

Now fortunately, they do let you filter out those games if you don't want to see them. However, I really think that we need to be a little more strict with the kinds of content that's allowed on Steam at all. Not everyone will know about the kinds of content you can see on Steam and setting preferences, and then some kid will come across something like Jerez's Arena, and that's exactly how an addiction to p*rn starts. And that kind of addiction has truly become a disease on society.

Hopefully some people agree with me. I'm not trying to impose my own views on everyone else, but I am hoping we can make a healthier society and gaming community.

You would only see those kinds of games if you disable the filters that are on by default / you buy / play those kinds of games, and yes you are trying to impose your views on everyone else

nobody is forcing you to look at them.
Knee 6 月 29 日 上午 5:06
Why did you disable the filter?
datCookie 6 月 29 日 上午 5:07
If they're not illegal, then there's no reason to not allow them on the store. Some people enjoy them, let them.

Keep them filtered out so you never see them.

Adult Only Sexual Content is OFF by default. Why did you enable it?
AmsterdamHeavy 6 月 29 日 上午 5:13
You absolutely are trying to impose your views on others. Disable the filter you turned on if you find that garbage objectionable.

" I'm not trying to impose my own views on everyone else, but I am hoping we can make a healthier society and gaming community."

I don;t know, but it seems to me that by the very title of your post you indeed are trying to impose your views on everyone else.

Why is it that every week or so someone starts a crusade to eliminate something that only shows up if you change the default filter setting?

So exposure to p*rn leads to addiction, but exposure to games that depict murder, robbery, drug dealing and any number of other vices is perfectly fine? Why don't I see posts demanding or at least suggesting any of these be removed or isolated behind a filter even half as often as the anti p*rn crusaders?

You're entitled to your own opinion, but that's all it is; your own opinion.

Uh-uh, it's apparently a coincidence that this "healthier society and gaming community" is in line with your views then?

No, nothing wrong with those games. Just keep the default filters enabled and you don't see them. I do that too.
It's perfectly fine is a store sells stuff you don't like.

There needs to be more porn on Steam. People taking care of their sexual needs is healthy. Trying to suppress everyone because you can't handle it is the wrong way to go OP.

Provide some proof please that a kid, who would have to be either allowed unrestricted account access or be on an account that their parent turned the filters off on, can see a single pornographic game and be doomed to a life of addiction.
BJWyler 6 月 29 日 上午 7:48
If you are worried about kids seeing porn, OP, then they shouldn't be on the Internet at all. It's harder to see porn on Steam than doing a Google search for a Catholic School assignment for "clothe the naked."

And if you truly were not trying to impose your views on everyone else, then this thread would not exist in the first place.

I have said this numerous times to multiple peoples, and i'm gonna say it again, If a random kid goes on the internet, in any sort of way, unsupervised, then it is the PARENTS FAULT if their kid finds content that they shouldn't have, and it is the PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY to teach them where they can go or where they can't.

If it was up to me, i wouldn't even give a kid an IPad in the first place like so many lazy and down right neglecting parents do just to make their kids shut up, if it was up to me, i would only give a child the most basic cellphone for important calls, and when they grow older, like 12, then, and only THEN, would i allow them to have any presence on the internet, and even then i would make sure to supervise them at every possible moment.

Steam/Valve, is not RESPONSIBLE for what a kid does, it is the PARENTS JOB to supervise what their kids do, stop blaming adult games just because they exist, and do your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ job as a parent.

Yeah, not how it works, Spanky. I've always had adult content turned off, and never once had a single adult game presented to me on Steam.
