Stop banning everybody and let people use their own block buttons
How about that for a suggestion?

Very good.

Nothing more annoying than some insane dweeb in a position of power taking offence to something stated without intent in a passing comment, having you banned, and thinking they are right for doing so.

People have block buttons for a reason, there is no need for an unsavory person in a position of power to run wild.

It is not right to ban people based on political affiliation, gender, race, because you don't agree with them, or so on.

That is all I have to say about that.

Mmmmh... no!

I've seen those claims before, but so far no evidence outside "trust me, bro".

None of my bans fall into that. Incompetence, yes, absolutely. Malice, nope.

So long as people commit evil with their speech, censorship will always be needed.
the block feature is crap (it not a real block function) and needs an overhaul, when one blocks another, neither should be able to interact with each other, which is the whole purpose of a block feature, ie... you block and never have to see the blocked person again, no "view blocked user" and no forced interaction upon you.

(i dont care about the fake "echo chamber" or "public forums" arguments, its a baseless argument, that only serves to allow users, to continue unwanted interaction, which is by definition, harassment)

as for not banning, no thanks, they need to start banning properly and equally, too many people get away with breaking rules, while finding others who arent breaking rules being falsely banned.

not to mention the out hand alt account usage, to avoid and/or bypass forum bans (despite the fact of them being punished correctly, or incorrectly).

the moderation around here is poor and not properly handled, in the end, its simply ridiculous to say the least.

as for why it happens, or if they have bias over others comments, or lean toward liking others over others, or interaction with, or any other thing one might find valid as to why it happens, we have no way to see or prove this, aside from showing the inconsistencies in moderation, thus allowing people higher up, to look into whats actually going on.

in the end, we can see people who claim to "follow the rules" on rare occasions being punished for breaking rules and other times being allowed to continue without punishment, or other rule breakers also being punished, but more frequent than the other rule breakers, or even see people not breaking rules falsely punished, thus showing the bad job being done.

good luck and have a nice day

The Beano isn't what it used to be these days, so I need a good laugh in the mornings which is why I don't block anyone.

I am curious though as to what category does calling someone a insane dweeb or unsavory person fall under?

It's not up to a community to accommodate those who refuse to behave themselves.

There seems to be a very noticable leniency on hate speech towards Russians.

Claim there are only two genders? Instant ban.
Say Russians are subhumans who do not deserve to life? No reaction for at least a week.

Of course, incompetence might be big factor. But it very much looks like inconsistent enforcement of rules according to whether or not you share some ideologies.
i have seen that :steamthis: happen as well, seems some gets allowed, while specific things are instantly banned, its quite obviously blatant.

have a nice day

Stop breaking the rules and maybe you would not keep getting banned for breaking the rules.

The ability for users to block is not some sort of excuse you can use to constantly break the rules and expect others to somehow put up with your nonsense
:steamthis: you have zero clue if the person broke rules, but also, "public accusations" are against the rules.

have a nice day

People do not get banned 'for no reason'. Especially by multiple different moderators in multiple different game hubs

:steamthis: yet support removes "unwarranted" bans, thus person was "banned for no reason", this is a simple fact.

game hubs have no place in the topic, when we are talking about valve/steams moderation/moderators, not game hub moderation/moderators.

have a nice day

A lot of game hubs are moderated by Steam moderation.

Not at all, I do not want to use block to avoid toxic/trolling edgelords. Thats what we have moderators to solve with bans. That's how it should continue to work imo.

 Horrible idea.

/Have a nice day.
