It's Time Steam Added Proper Translation for Community Content
Over the past few months, I've noticed Chinese reviews becoming increasingly common across many Steam games. Combined with the longstanding presence of Russian, Polish, Japanese, and other non-English reviews, it's clear we're missing out on these perspectives simply because of language barriers and that goes both ways. I reckon it's time Steam implemented proper translation features for community content like reviews, posts, and even game descriptions.

How This Could Work
I think the most ideal way would be with the use of large language models because this way it's less likely the translation would not be available for some languages. This would make translations accessible for nearly any language.

Feature Requests

- Translate instantly with a single click, much like Meta platforms
- Have your account region automatically set your default translation language
- Customise preferred translation language manually

This would make reviews and communities a lot more accessible to everyone, literally around the world, both engaging with contents and to be able to make more informed purchases.

There's a transactional difference between Steam offering a translation button redirecting to Google Translate and you copying said comment manually to Google Translate. The difference is 20 USD per million words it would cost Valve to provide this function.

If 1% of the concurrent users (400k users) would translate the above paragraph (39 "words"), it would cost Valve 312 USD. If they cache the result and the hitrate is 97%, it would still cost Valve 9.36 USD. Just for these 39 words alone.
