You should not be able to post in someone's thread if you block them
For the record, I am not saying that if you block someone, they cannot post in YOUR threads, but rather, if YOU block someone, you cannot post in their threads. While we're at it, if you block someone, YOU cannot post in their comments section either, on any of the artwork, screenshots, etc. for that matter too.

Why? Because if you've blocked someone, that means you are saying you do not wish to interact with them any longer. So why would you be posting in their threads, or commenting on their profile or any other content they upload to the Steam community?

You're slipping. This has been discussed to death. Lack of self-control isn't someone else's or Valves' problem.

This forum is also not an echo chamber. It never has been. Even before your account was created.

Hm, that's a rather ironic comment, I'd say.

This is a great way to create echo chambers and restrict the posting privileges of other users. It's actually not a solution widely agreed upon, even by those who have disdain for current moderation.

The best solution I have seen presented is for an improvement to the current system, which goes as follows:

User A blocks user B, user A now can only see "topic/comment by a blocked user" with no option to "view" them. Further, user A also cannot see any comment made by user B in quoted replies (as you can with the current system). User B can still see and comment in threads made by user A, but since user A cannot read any of them, there's no issue at all.

No echo chambers are created and no user will have their posting privileges restricted unnecessarily by another user.

Pretty simple.

Heh. I don't know.

This was still on the first page at the time this thread was created, let alone the one slightly before it, do we really need another one the front page?

Again, I am not asking that when someone blocks YOU, you are not allowed to post on their threads. I am saying that when YOU block someone, you cannot post on THEIR threads.

I actually did misread that, apologies.

Even still, what I said would prevent you from being able to do this anyway. Since you wouldn't be able to open the thread, you'd not be able to comment.

Sure, that would work too. Although I would still say that logically it should extend to the UGC of users you have blocked. There is no reason for you to be commenting on the profiles or screenshots of users you've put into your blocklist.

Just more control over what others can say and do.

I would not disagree with that. If you block a user, you shouldn't be able to see or interact with their profile in any way.

There is no time limit or delay on blocks, so this is basically pointless. If someone wanted to comment on something that someone they blocked posted, then all they would need to do is unblock them, then block them again afterwards. All this would do is just make things tedious at best.

Given previous participation it's the same thing worded slightly differently to achieve the same overall goal.

No.

Why would you want to comment on a thread made by someone you blocked to begin with?
