Reduce the wait time for trades and market listings for those who have email verification but not a cell phone.
Currently, Steam users who don't have a cell phone and only have an email account have to wait 15 days for their trades and market listings to go through even though they've opened and verified the request to list an item via their email.

Such is already a method of 2 factor authorization, and yet only those with a cell phone are allowed to the extremely long wait time for the listing to go live significantly shortened. 3-5 days after email authorization is perfectly acceptable, but 15 is absolutely crazy.

Not everyone has a cell phone nor a need for such outside of this reduction in wait time, and is a waste of money if you don't hardly have anybody call nor make any calls.

I personally have never had a cell phone in any of my many years on Steam simply because I've not had a need nor desire for it, and yet even though my email account hasn't changed even once over said time I'm STILL having to wait just over 2 freaking weeks for any listings I wish to make to go active after email verification for said listing is complete.

Password resets mandating a long delay before being able to make any kind of trading is perfectly fine and a completely acceptable measure to take towards preventing hacked accounts causing. But when it's been more than triple that and I'm STILL having to wait over 2 weeks for any listings to go live, there is a freaking problem.

It was 3 days in the beginning.

Mainly because people can't stop giving away their account information still, to this day...

as mentioned above and stating the obvious...

emails can easily be hijacked stolen, from basically anywhere.

a phone... not so much.

phones in the end, are more secure, than an email.

that said, why dont you have a phone? they arent that expensive (their are low tier, mid and higend, heck you can even buy flip phones still which are dirt cheap) and you can hang on to and use them for a very long time (my last one i used for over a decade), even use prepaid service... if needed, due to a budget, or get pretty decently cheap unlimited services as well.

grab yourself a phone and your issues will be resolved.

im assuming, phones arent rare, wherever you are.

have a nice day

$25/month for minimal phone service over a year's time means $300, even if the phone is free.

I've not had my email nor steam account hacked once in my 11 years (will be 12 in august). It's also been 9 years since those announcements, and I'm actually curious as to whether or not if both the flat number and portion of hacked steam accounts relative to the total number of active steam users has decreased.

Even just having the option to have a reduced trade waiting time (6 days), even if it requires that you wait that much time before you can trade anything at all after enabling said option, would be far better than no option at all.

Since then, people still can't stop giving away their account information on a daily basis.

Everyone lives with the restrictions.

Valve even increased cooldowns on CS2 items. I don't think reducing cooldowns/holds is on the table. If anything, they'll become longer.

you not having it happen, doesnt detract from the boat loads who do have it happen.

i know its not fair and others ruin things for everyone else.

but the simple fact is, email can be hijacked and people here on steam have and have caused these measure to be put in place.

valve wont change it.

side note: not only do these scammer/phishers, sue outaside means to do this stuff, they even do it right here on steam, i have seen and reported a ton of them, some who have even resorted to spamming the forums with scam links, to try luring poepl into clicking links... luckily valves content checking system, filters know scam links, so they dont show up.

im in the US, are you? or a different region? im hoping w/e it is you mentioned might be available in my area, as i would like to look into it.

grab a phone and your issue will be resolved.

good luck and have a nice day
