Add info on a game's average time to beat in the library and store, same as the Xbox app

Valve won't give out information that may be misrepresenting of the product they sell.

They might be liable for false advertisement if a sufficiently large playerbase managed to complete a game faster than the information may suggest.

Not really. It's just questionable how useful it is.

GoG has it on store pages. But in my own ezperience, it's inconsistent whixh is due to HLTB relying on users.
Is a game that takes long to beat better than a game that can be beaten quickly?
People need to consider that duration is not a measure for entertainment.
I never said that. I think it would be nice if you wanted to go through a library full of unplayed games to see what you could beat in either a short or long amount of time

Takes like a couple seconds to look it up yourself. Just put "How long to beat" and the game of your choice.

Everyone plays differently and most of the info is based on starting the game/story from Start to Finish.

Depending on what type of game it is, the time to finish them also depends on what you do while playing them. Is it an open world game with lots of side quests etc? or a Narrative game that only lasts a couple hours?

Sometimes the game's store page will let you know how long a game is. A lot of stuff on whatever game's store page should give you an idea if it's a long one or not.

I think Narrative games (Like the Hellblade: Senua series) are short to finish. Both Hellblade games are around the 7-ish hour mark to finish. Last of Us Part 1 is 12-16 hours to finish, Part 2 25-30 hours.

I'm sure this shouldn't be a hard thing for you to do. I just looked up games (as you see above) and that didn't take much time at all. Few secs.

I know, I've already done that before, i just think it would be a nice QoL improvement. HowLongToBeat also has Main + Extra/Completionist average hours. And it could also be something you would have to manually opt into

Well, continue to do that because they aren't going to add that to Steam.

I know, I just focused on the main part. How long to beat from start to finish (the main focused hours) the extra stuff is blah.

Just find a game/games you want to play/have interest in playing that are in your library and find out how long they are.

Everyone knows it is an estimate and an average. Just because you took 21 and the site said 20 does not make the data useless.

EVen for that the metric becomes useless.
Whole genres invalidate it and others well. If you actually enjoy a game there's not much of an upper limit to how long you'll spend puttering around in the game world without beating it.

I mean unlesas you're approaching gaming like a job you need to punch a time card for the metric is pointless...and if that is how you're approaching your leisure activity...you might have missed the point of a leisure activity.

Plus the fact that such things are self-reported means that there will me lots of junk data.
