Remove the block feature's interaction with the forums entirely
Seeing as most users are unable to keep themselves from clicking "Show post" from users they have blocked, it seems pointless for the block feature to have any interaction with the forums to begin with.

If there was just a way to hide the blocked person's entire post (basically, you don't see anything) they should do that. But if they can't, all you can do is just ignore it as best as you can.

I know most people are tempted to "Press the button!" but you gotta overcome that urge. Fight it. Once you do, a couple times, it becomes a cake walk.

It doesn't matter.

People will just circumvent it with an alt account or by going to the page without logging in and still read the post, then complain about it.

Some people seriously can not be helped.

...That is why my suggestion is to simply remove the block feature interacting with the forums at all.

Talk for yourself, I have no problem with it, if I have a user blocked they go on ignore too.

No need for any changing imo.
First: It's not 'most' users.
Second: Just because a few users make wrong use of a tool doesn't mean it has to be removed.

Down the same train of thought, let's remove multplayer options from games because 'most' people can't stop cheating.

Makes no sense, that is like saying remove cars from roads because some people can't use them properly. It does no harm to have it for those who actually use it.

That's a pretty bad comparison because people who can't use cars on the road do a lot of harm to other people. And I actually do think we should remove cars from roads, but that's neither here nor there.

ah. I guess i misread.
I thought you meant removing the ability to view a blocked message by clicking on it.

Blocking itself still is a good feature for people that do have the self control and simply do not want to be annoyed when scrolling through the forum.
Even if it means a page full of "topic/reply from a blocked user" .

Ah you seem to have missed the part I posted, let me re-post it for you

Nope. Current way is useful for me. The block isn't just a block, it helps me identify bad actors. And if someone else is engaging with a blocked user, it helps to know context.

It's not steam's fault people press "show post". Why does it matter? It's how they use the platform.

This would also imply they know who is and isn't blocked, or in other words speculation.

Not speculation. The word you were looking for is "fact."
Speak for yourself, but I never reveal the comments of blocked users. The users I've blocked were blocked for a reason. And that reason is generally that they're dishonest trolls who add nothing to a conversation and whose opinions are like an a-hole on an elbow: useless.

But I will say that it gets a little annoying seeing so many blocker user- show in any given forum. It would be nice if I couldn't see them at all. But I've made that suggestion before.
