Valve should fix the weekly drop system — XP is being wasted
Suggested improvement for CS2's weekly drop system

The current problem:

The CS2 drop system only allows one weekly drop, tied to the first level you gain after Tuesday. If a player gains multiple levels in one week, only the first counts for a drop – the rest of the XP is essentially wasted when it comes to rewards.

This feels frustrating and punishes players who play more than average.

My suggestion:
Introduce a weekly XP-based drop system that resets every Tuesday. Here's how it could work:

Every Tuesday, the weekly drop XP counter resets (this is separate from the account level).

Players earn XP as usual by playing matchmaking or other official modes.

When certain XP thresholds are reached, drops are given. For example:

First drop: 5,000 XP

Second drop: 7,500 XP

Third drop: 10,000 XP

XP requirements could scale with each drop to keep balance.

Next Tuesday, the counter resets, and the cycle repeats.

Benefits of this system:
No XP is wasted.

Players who play more are rewarded fairly.

It gives players motivation to keep playing throughout the week.

Valve can still control drop volume by setting a weekly drop limit (e.g. 2 or 3 per week).

Why the current system is flawed:
Only one drop per week based on level gain.

Extra levels beyond the first don't reward anything.

This discourages players from playing after their first level-up.

Why this matters:
Right now, many players intentionally stop playing after reaching one level to avoid wasting XP before the Tuesday reset. That’s not healthy game design. A weekly XP-based system would be more fair, more engaging, and more modern.

Valve, it’s time to improve this outdated system.

It's best to keep all CS2 discussions and suggestions within the CS2 hub;
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/730/discussions/

If there is a temporary inability to post there, wait for the restriction to expire, and then make the suggestion in the CS2 section. :smokeybear:
The drops have been reduced to the point of once per week due to the vast amount of afk bots.

This was done very intentionally.

Ok, well make AFK bots get flagged

People need to report them properly instead of simply complaining in the CS2 hub.

They literally refuse to use the report function every time it is mentioned. They go far as to try kicking them instead of reporting and they get hit with the too many kicks cooldown, which leads them to the forum to complain about it and not reading up Valve's own faq about it.

Onus should not be on the community wasting their time reporting bots.

It's like deleting every spam in your inbox. You let spam control take care of it and check it in the rare instance an email didn't come through.

This needs to be solved by easy to implement automation.
