Drop payment processors
I'd be OK with only using pre-paid Steam cards from now on. Sure, bit more of a hassle, but worth it.
Or make a dedicated Steam payment processor, similar to Paypal, I'd sign up.
Let's see how Visa, MasterCard etc would like to lose all related business..

If you don't mind that, why are you buying on steam? If looking for adult only games and are willing to pay via non-standard methods, there are plenty of websites that have this business model.

Seeing as this wouldn't change the situation without law changes etc, this wouldn't change visa/mc being a majority especially since they're not willing to risk their entire store for some niche "games" that have little population compared to one good indie or one AAA release.

Sorry but I do not want to drive 2+ hours to get a steam gift card every time I want buy something. It might be worth it to you but not others.

Visa and Mastercard wouldn’t care. If valve didn’t comply they were going to stop doing business with valve anyway.

They were both well prepared to lose it. There's very few places you can go where neither is available for payment. Losing Steam's payments wouldn't hurt them.

That and they know they'll get what they want, as a very very few vocal minorities would actually have an issue with what visa & mc wanted removed. No realistic loss whatsoever to the store.

Make steam wallet accessible to other places, make it a competitor to these "payment processor".

The point is not about some specific game being censored it is about them "payment processor" having anything to do with what people can and can't spend their money on. This is a major red flag, what they will arbitrarily ban next? Your favorite drinks for being sugary?

Here's an idea. You drop using MC/Visa and start using prepaid steamcards. And everyone else, including myself, who likes to use MC/Visa, continues to do so.

/Have a great day.

Which would require Valve to have a banking license. Which a game company is not going to get easily if at all and would place more regulations on Valve.

They wouldn't care at all because after doing some math, Steam accounts for less than 0.2% of the combined revenue of VISA/Mastercard, its a rounding error for them.

Valve massively needs MC/VISA, where as VISA/Mastercard do not need Valve at all.

And vast majority of gamers wouldn't decide to get steam wallet cards, its way to inconvienient, rather they would just take their business else where that still take MC/VISA.

right? The amount of costs, time, and effort all for what? just so they can sell some degenerate content that no decent human being would want to play and makes no to little money for Steam anyways?
There's a lot of ruin in the system, and it'll take more than one or two communities inconvenienced by the third world style unreliability and unaccountability of the supposed drivers of the economy to move the majority of normies off. Having a monopoly has a lot of benefits, actually, including being able to draft regulation to preclude further competition and having judges and arbitrators routinely ignore contracts to rule your away and protect you from the consequences of your actions.

The latter behavior is popular on this board as you might imagine.

Censorship of even the trivial crappy stuff has always been a sore spot for the community for reasons you'd understand if you had some history with said community.

They definitely have history with the community with 1,326 posts including posts where they discussed censorship.
