Simple Steam
Steam with just the library, no updates, achivements, or anything else shown.
One image not changing for each game, an easy play button.
Easy access to contact people.
Hidden shop button with only one button, even when hovering over it,
a more simplistic store, promoting welfare instead of pushing
and swaying people, no fomo, and no distracting ui

Menu > View > Small Mode. You can also access friends from there.

You will never get a mode with no updates, as that is one of the main things that Steam does, is to make sure games are up to date, but you can always beg the Dev's to make a branch for the game Version you're using, so that you can stay on that branch even when the game does update

Expecting merchants to not subject you to the usual merchantry abuse via UI these days is very noble but also extremely optimistic. Modding the Steam client itself as a user project is probably the only feasible way to reach this goal without immense social change.

Everything STEAM does is designed to make money, so it will only get worse.


Look at the points/award system...purposely designed to entice people to buy more games to get more points.
