Bank/payment processor of Valve... Maybe?
This is a hyperbolic idea in lieu of the recent visa/mastercard stuation, but I would happily move all of my financial assets to a bank in Valve's name to avoid the shenanigans of Visa and Mastercard and them trying to decide how we can spend our own money while they reap a 3% transaction fee. Hell, I'd pay an extra 1~2% service fee if there were a means to use money in my valve account over my Visa and Mastercard accounts in day-to-day purchases -- the cashback on most credit cards is laughable and I'd make more if there were a modest 5~10% discount on steam purchases while Valve accrues interest on the assortment of my other assets. I imagine I am not the only person that would take advantage of the option.

I'm not sure if this idea is feasible, but I think Valve is the only company with enough weight and 'eff-you money' in the industry to say "fine, we'll take their business." Please consider the following and community you have is substantially more supportive than most. I cannot begin to fathom the logistics behind setting up a new payment system, but there would not be multiple payment processors today if there was not an avenue to establish a new one.

The problem is that it would involve convincing countless retailers to accept their cards. Is it impossible? No. Is it feasible? Not with the amount of money Valve has available to just spend on things.
Like all the identical threads, this wouldn't change the outcome.

It's not feasible. You're vastly overestimating Valve's size and power.

:/ Oh well. Thanks for the thoughts. Was curious what the gut feeling of others was.
The guys in charge of this sort of thing also lobbied the regulation for the field to ensure there's going to be no competition. They thought about this for a while and locked you in but good. It's not an easy problem to fix and just one company won't be able to do it.
Instead, push for the formation of independent payment solutions that shut out Visa and Mastercard, such as Brazil's PIX (direct transaction agnostic of banks/payment processors) or the still-in-development alternatives in the EU. If you're american, pester your lawmakers until their hair falls out, don't let them have a single day of peace.

They could just keep the games on their store and just make them only purchasable using a steam card or something like that. Just restrict the ability to purchase them with those cards.
People really overestimate what Valve can do. That's what wishful thinking gets ya.

No, that wouldnot satisfy what MC/Visa want.

I have an issue with you taking a knee to support a group that censors games like Collective Shout. Instead of standing against them and the payment systems, you should oppose their actions. It would be better to collaborate with Elon Musk on a new payment system. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile. If they manage to shut down one thing, they will aim to shut down your entire organization. I apologize for this, but I needed to get it off my chest.

We gamers have had enough.
