Surprise purchase
Hi everyone,
I don't know if this widespread or not, but surprises is the thing that brings me joy in this mostly predictable and boring world since the childhood. Sometimes, I’m unsure which game to buy or play, particularly with a large wishlist and limited funds.

So, I thought about several possible features.
1. Random Wishlist Purchase with Budget Limit
Allow users to buy a random game from their wishlist based on a specified budget. For example, if I set a $3 limit, Steam could select a game from my wishlist priced at $3 or less (e.g., $1 or $1.5). This would make purchasing decisions easier and add an element of surprise.
2. Random Game Purchase by Price Point
Offer a feature where users pay a fixed amount (e.g., $5) to receive a random game from a pool of titles priced at that amount. To enhance customization, users could filter by genre, release year, or other criteria. This would encourage exploration across Steam’s vast library.
3. Mystery Game Purchase (Optional)
Introduce a “mystery game” option where users pay a set amount (e.g., $5) for a random game within a price range (e.g., $1–$10). While this could be thrilling, it’s less predictable, so it may not suit all users. Clear disclaimers about the experimental nature of this feature would be essential.

To encourage users to engage with their random purchases, I suggest disabling refunds for these transactions, as this would motivate players to try games they might not have otherwise considered. These features could also spotlight beginner and lesser-known developers, giving their games greater visibility without relying heavily on marketing.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe these features could bring a fresh, exciting dynamic to Steam’s platform while supporting its developer community.
