There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current security in place and nor does it need improving. It's the user's themselves who are the problem.
All the check-mark adds are false security.
Thats my cynical thought as well. I also give not a single bit for celebrities, personalities, creators, or attention seekers so as far as Im concerned a verification check is more a mark of shame than legitimacy.
I'm gonna need you to explain your thinking here, because that sounds like the opposite of what would happen.
Add in some arbitrary verified thing, and that makes them an even bigger target.
The largest weak point in account security is ALWAYS the user.
Having a thousand locked doors does no good when the key holder gave away all the keys.
