Feature Request: Add a “Browse Compatibility Data” option in the game Properties menu (for both Steam and non-Steam games using Proton)
I'd like to propose a small but very helpful improvement to the Steam client on Linux:

Please add a "Browse Compatibility Data" button to the Properties menu of any game that uses Proton—including both official Steam games and non-Steam games.

Currently, when using Proton, Steam creates a compatibility folder (Wine prefix) at:

~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/<AppID>/pfx/drive_c/

However, there is no way to access this location directly from the Steam interface, even for official games. The existing “Browse Local Files” button only opens the installation directory in steamapps/common/, not the Proton prefix.

This makes it unnecessarily difficult for users to:

Install mods or configuration files,

Diagnose or fix issues with Wine-based prefixes,

Access saved games, logs, or additional runtime data.

For non-Steam games, this is even harder, since AppIDs are not easily visible or predictable.

A simple “Browse Compatibility Data” button next to “Browse Local Files” (in Properties > Installed Files) would go a long way toward improving the usability of Proton for all users, especially those on Steam Deck and Linux.

Thank you for your continued work and support for the Linux gaming community!
