What happens when we lose the ability to purchase games like COD and GTAVI?
The group of incompetent malcontents that went after porn games, suicide games, games about depression and games that are 'explicitly offensive' they're now moving on to GTA VI and COD as well as any games that "anyone could find offensive, regardless of whether they were legal at creation or when the decision to remove payment processing for that item has been made".

When, not if, they start removing multiplayer games, will we lose access to the MP servers? At this point is it just over and we should give up on any third party platforms like steam because you now have to follow the rules of a religious organisation posing as a legally recognised financial institution?

Gabe once said the real cause of piracy was a service issue. Now all our gaming platforms are complicit in creating a new service issue FOR LEGAL CONTENT.

Why should we continue to trust steam? Is Gabe still in charge?

Find a new hobby?
Does Call of Duty have non-consensual sex as a game mechanic? No? Then it's not violating the rules Visa established years before Steam allowed adult-only games at all.

You should probably actually do more than read headlines.

Should actually read the whole article.

You should read Visa's official rules rather than trying to dismiss them using quippy one-liners.

https://usa.visa.com/content/dam/VCOM/download/about-visa/visa-rules-public.pdf

Section 1.3.3.4. Not substantially changed since it was originally written (or at least the oldest version available on the Internet Archive was written) in October 2014.

Adult-only games have been allowed on Steam since June 2018.

You realise that rule 15 was added with vague language that specifically allows for changes in payment processor policies, right? Or are you actively ignoring reality in order to push the incompetent belief that "only porn will be affected" even after itch was forced to remove games about depression (not porn), games about suicide (not porn), many horror games (also, not porn), as well as a whole host of actual porn.

Pretending they're following their policies while blatantly misinforming is a little over the top, you work for visa?

Do anything that is productive, there are plenty of hobbies. Gaming wont give you anything worth living for. Games make a path for you, you play it out, hence and repeat.

If you will decide to follow the path of "productivity", in a few years you will see a big difference in various aspects of your life.

We're not going to lose access to those games, because they don't violate any agreement, legal or otherwise. I also wouldn't put much emphasis on Collective Shout, who cannot fight the Australian Classification Agency on games that are already classified and have been considered to meet the criteria for classification in Australia. GTA has been classified in Australia and legally available for sale since they first released (all CS could do was convince two retailers to remove the game from sale over 10 years ago). The game "Schedule 1", where you literally make, sell and consume drugs (not using real recipes, ofc) has been classified here in Aus and returned to sale in our region on the Steam store (I will edit this if it turns out to be currently untrue).

Their main focus seems to be on porn, mostly stuff relating to sexual violence or anything to do with kids.

It's been what, 2 weeks since this stuff first happened? Nothing new has happened and is unlikely to.

Neither did most of the games on itch and yet thousands of horror and psychological games were purged for meeting that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ criteria of "violence".
Not sexual, just "violence" against fictional minors or perceived fictional minors, not to mention using an individual companies policy THAT CAN CHANGE LITERALLY AT THE WILL OF THE CEO is a 'positive' thing, is absolutely and hilariously detached from reality.
The next set of policies being discussed by mc and visa is "anything that can be perceived as offensive by anyone"...

Sure that will go over well with everyone defending these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ companies.

Those games weren't purged, they were taken down and then reinstated under more appropriate categories. You can literally go to Itch right now and see them.

If and when they start coming for our more normal games, then we can riot, but not a moment before. People are giving these fringe groups far too much credit and the belief they have more power than they do.

Not credit, they started the ball rolling but it's the politicians and tech companies taking advantage of it "FOR THE CHILDREN" they continue to destroy both the privacy *and* security of the internet in order to silence any information that goes against their ideals or plans, while perpetuating, uplifting and forcing to the front of everyone's search or top level pages a ton of propaganda.

"for the kids" - says the paedophile politicians

NGL, I don't care for a handful of rape/incest games.

But, if push comes to shove and they start really going after games where it makes no sense to me. I'm gonna riot. (Figuratively.)

And this is how it should be.

Why should I?

Because you'd have no choice.

Why should I? Religious trash invaded my space, why should I have to change to acquiesce to their blackmail?

Once they ban LGBT content and demand they be pushed out of communities, you want me to start killing my LGBT family members? I refuse to do that, too.

This is the argument you are presenting here. "Change your hobbies" they will continue to invade my hobbies until I am thought policed to their ideal preference. Believing otherwise indicates a serious lack of historical education.
Collective shout are a left-wing extremist organisation with ties to the Australian government, they literally fought for cuties to remain on Netflix in Australia so the type of content you are worried about is completely safe and not something they target but actively defend.

Where are you finding the information of them having ties to the Australian Government? The only reference I can find is one of their team members used to work for the Government (didn't say State or Federal) in the admin department.
