There is enough baiting going on as it is. No need to put that on overdrive.
What do the devs get paid with?
the main purpose isn’t profit, it’s about showcasing themselves and their games to the Steam community.
Steam points aren't legal tender anywhere. You cannot pay the rent for a warm home nor pay for food on the table with them.
Loyalty point systems are used to keep customers and build a strong customer base. Valve is already going very strong. They don't need to fork over money to keep customers loyal to them.
Developers choice as to whether they offer a demo, early preview, alpha access, beta access. As for Steam points they are not a real currency so there is no benefit to the developer.
I have alpha then beta access to Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy because i paid the developer for the game upfront.
Like this one is 10,000 steam points:

how does having one this high price help the game in any way shape or form? If they want users to have it on their profile, wouldn't they want it cheap so more users could buy it?
Now that is a good question. What do the devs get, if anything, when you buy something from the point shop for their game?
It lets the people with more money demo games whilst the ones who would benefit from the demo more (people with less money) miss out and have to buy the whole thing to try it.
