disable quote button to blocked users

suggestion that the quote button on your forum posts is disabled for users that you've blocked.
like how the add friend button is disabled.

not as effective as the full 2 way block that's needed and everyone wants,
nor as effective as a multi threaded forum that would improve this place in far more ways too,
but still something to reduce people talking at someone who's deemed them incapable of rational polite discussion.

still want to manually copy paste in order to quote using the dreadful markup formatting since there's still no WYSIWYG editor?
go ahead, anyone that stubborn can't be stopped or helped.

When you apply the block you are literally told you are not going to communicate with them, not vice versa. They can quote and reply because they do not have you blocked and do not know they are blocked. These are public discussion forums, where everyone is invited, whereas a blog or group is where you control who posts.

As for "everyone wants" can you link the poll or survey you sent out to everyone.

They could still copy/paste and attribute it to the correct user, this would accomplish nothing. Seconds to do.

That makes no sense, what makes more sense is that if YOU block someone that you are unable to quote that user.

You blocking someone will never restrict what that person can say, it should only restrict what YOU see and interact with. You will never be able to stop other users from disagreeing with you.

Umm, that's not how blocking systems work. Once you block the other user, the other user cannot quote and communicate with you. It doesn't matter if the other user have you blocked or not.

Umm, that's not how blocking systems work. Once you block the other user, the other user cannot quote and communicate with you. It doesn't matter if the other user have you blocked or not.

There is no direct communication from a blocked user. Which is the intent.

Blocking isn't a "hah you can't post in reference to me" tool.

It's a "I no longer have interest in communicating with you" tool.

If you don't have interest in communicating with someone, it shouldn't matter to you what they do.

All it does is frustrate the user experience. Also users should not have the power to negatively affect the browsing experience of others. They want to curate their own experience? Fine.

Much alike the profile harassment, the goal is "see!? this is why we need two way block!" but in reality it just shows a pattern of attempted provocation.

Though block does need an update, mostly so quotes of blocked users remain filtered, posts by blocked users don't set off thread subscription alerts, and removing click to show or at least giving it a toggle off option with the option toggled off by default.
