There really ought to be a browser plugin for that. It would be a bit strange in scope to make it a core feature though.

Probably also a bit optimistic to expect a corporation to let you skip the ad nonsense to the good part of a video. Corporations adore the ad nonsense

I don't do it. I hate when people assume they do things that they do personally. Like everyone owns a smartphone. NO they do not. I have several life real life friends that do not. Or everyone has a social media account. NO again, many of my friends hate it, and i do not like them either.

This may be one of those cultural explainer moments here where we have a significant number of people who can't even understand why someone would want to skip some fraction into videos versus people who cannot understand why someone would not do this. (Youtube has a keyboard press for this btw)

Are there videos hosted on Steam that contain both an advertisement and a non-advertisement piece? I can't think of any reason why there would be.

It is the customers buying games who pay the salary at Valve, so it is them who should be pleased not the corpos.

A settings option to start videos at 1/3 in client is the ideal solution everyone wants here.

And keep in mind "I pay so I demand" won't get you far.

Going by this thread, one Steam user wants it. That's not enough to spend developer time making a setting that does something as arbitrary as this.

This board is absolutely not a meaningful cross section of Steam users on any level. Not even close.

That said despite that the percentage is probably still fairly small. Maybe there are a good chunk of people who find 1/3rd works more often than not but I always have to fidget a bit when I am trying to skip to the good part and a one size fits all solution seems to me like it would not function.
