This. It is already a built-in feature. One that can be used for good or ill, tbh.
I say the second bit as the only dev I’ve personally see restrict a subforum to “owners only” very obviously did it to silence valid outside criticism and ban anyone the mods didn’t like/agree with-creating a toxic echo chamber.
Oh, and there were still plenty of troll posts that sometimes took days to be taken down (if they were taken down at all).
Realistically just having steam deal w trolls better would be a better option
Simple as. Many devs choose to leave it open because many prospective buyers come there with questions.
So there are negatives for doing what you are suggesting.
